About the Event

We are really lucky to have highly regarded dancer and teacher Andres' Tanguito' Cejas come to teach a 3 hour progressive class looking at individual technique, through to securing good couple technique and embrace within a combination of movements.

Tanguito represents the purest style of Argentine Tango. A highly respected milonguero, together with his wife and partner Genoveva, has worked with the some of the best known orchestras, among which that of master Mariano Mores, Sexteto Mayor, Berlinghieri-Baffa, Raúl Garello, José Colangelo, Sexteto sur and others.

He has appeared on numerous stages in theatres and shows in Argentina and all over the world with some of the world’s best known tango dancers such as Vanina Bilous & Roberto Herrera, Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Los Dinzel, Nélida & Nelson, Gloria & Eduardo, and others.

Andrés acknowledges as his first tango teacher the famous milonguero Pepito Avellaneda. He later worked with Osvaldo Zotto's as his assistant teacher from 1992 to 2001. During this period they worked together to record the now famous course "Así se baila el tango", for the channel "Solo Tango". From 1999 to 2002, Andrés and Genoveva were principal teachers in the "Estudio La Esquina" of Vanina Bilous. From 1997 to 2002 they were dancers and assistant directors of the show "Tango, una historia…" presented together with Roberto Herrera. In 2003 they worked with Julio Iglesias as main dancers in his european tour. They were the creators and artistic directors of "Ventarrones de Tango" which was presented in the Mentekulta Tango Festival in Portugal. Much loved in Buenos Aires, they were honoured on the "Dia del Milonguero"for the authenticity of their dance, which captures the grounded traditions of Tango whilst maintaining a personal originality. They run the very popular practica "De Querusa" in Buenos Aires.

Andrés is well known throughout the UK and has worked in Cambridge, London, Leeds, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and world-wide. He has also performed at London's Royal Festival Hall, with maestro Mariano Mores.

His deep knowledge of the authentic Tango movements, and his experience at the highest level of performance and teaching throughout the world, his self-critical and exhaustive technical training make him amongst the most accomplished and grounded teachers.

With an extensive artistic trajectory, he is dedicated to teaching and divulging the music and dance of the Río de la Plata.
