Cooking up a storm together!

A recent tanda and watching Masterchef, inspires me to write something about the similarities between dancing (tango of course!) and cooking. I'm sure it's been done before, but hey ho, here's my take on it.

A good chef has some idea about what he's going to cook, having done at least some or maybe a lot of preparation. He starts off with good basic ingredients, slowly adding more in to the mix and tasting as he goes along. A herb or two here, some spice there. Ah ok, that needs a little more salt/pepper/chilli..... I guess a lot depends on the ingredients being used and what they are trying to achieve.

A good leader also starts off with good basic ingredients ; posture, embrace, walk and of course THE MUSIC.

They don't throw everything in to the pot at the same time, but build up the dance, adding different layers, different ingredients, according to taste, the music and of course the person they are dancing with. The follower adds flavour, bringing their own ingredients in to the mix; their own good posture, embrace and musicality.

A good leader can make a follower look and feel amazing.

A good follower can make a leader feel free, that anything is possible.

You catch my drift? And I'm sure you know where this is going!!

Let's make sure that we all bring good ingredients along to use in our dance.

Let's make sure that we develop sensitivity and respect for each other in the dance.

Then we really can cook up a storm together!!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go on Masterchef without practising, would you??!!
